Speedwell’s Green Promise

Our Mission

Speedwell’s mission is simple! We’re joining the fight against climate change and by purchasing any vehicle from us, you’re helping play your part as we will plant ten trees in Haiti or Madagascar. We’ve teamed up with Our Forest to help achieve our goal.

10 trees planted for every car sold!

Green Promise Hybrid and Electric vehicles

One of the biggest threats to our planet’s ecosystem is deforestation. Most notably, deforestation leads to a loss of habitat for millions of species. Many animals cannot survive outside of their ecosystem and one day, the destruction of their land could mean an end to the population. This is why it’s more important than ever that we work together to bring the trees back.

Why are we doing it?

Trees are essential for people, wildlife and the environment. Thousands of wildlife species depend on trees for food and shelter. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

Trees also play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides. A single tree can be home to hundreds of species of insect, fungi, moss, mammals, and plants. Through their leaves and bark, trees absorb harmful pollutants and release clean oxygen for us to breathe. In urban environments, trees absorb pollutant gases like nitrogen oxides, ozone, and carbon monoxide, and sweep up particles like dust and smoke.

What does this achieve?

Each country has deforestation problems for a variety of different reasons, but the solution is the same for Speedwell regardless. Our planting project leads to higher soil quality, reduction in CO2 emissions, protected areas for local species and employment in impoverished areas.

Where have we planted them?

Speedwell’s planting project first took place in two countries: Madagascar and Haiti. Since April 2026, we are now planting in Tanzania. All countries were chosen based on deforestation rates and its resulting impact on the community. While Madagascar’s deforestation issue is species loss, Haiti’s is due to lack of sustainability.

Planting Locations

Madagascar mangrove restoration project

Madagascar

This project supports mangrove restoration near the Akalamboro Estuary in northwest Madagascar. The area has been affected by tree loss caused by charcoal production and timber collection.

Replanting helps protect an important coastal habitat, supporting fish nurseries, birdlife and other wildlife while strengthening the surrounding ecosystem.

Haiti agroforestry planting project

Haiti

In northern Haiti, tree planting takes place around the Belanger community, where dry conditions and historic deforestation have left the landscape with limited tree cover.

The project helps restore damaged land, reduce soil erosion and support more resilient farming communities through agroforestry.

Tanzania native forest restoration project

Tanzania

This planting site is based in the Malindi Hills within Tanzania’s Usambara Mountains, an area recognised for its rich biodiversity and unique native species.

By restoring native trees, the project helps stabilise hillsides, improve local ecosystems and encourage long-term environmental care with the nearby community.
